UOW Human Geographer, Professor Gordon Waitt, explores the intimate and essential role that cars play in peoples’ lives — not only as an extension of us, but as spaces for us to escape, connect with others and be restored. Because being in vehicles helps people juggle and deal with the stresses of everyday life, he said, it is one of the few changes that citizens are prepared to make, even among those most environmentally conscientious among us.
