Transport is one component of infrastructure in a city that makes it a liveable place. Driving on the roads and down the rabbit hole beneath them, the often overlooked services that network, criss-cross and buoy our cities is the emphasis of Engineering Policy expert Professor Brian Collins’ talk. The former Scientific Adviser to the UK Department of Transport canvasses all the services and facilities that we so often take for granted — transport, energy, water, waste — his message reminds us that all the cables, pipes and trenches supporting these utilities cannot be forgotten.
